WEYLAND-YUTANI · BUILDING BETTER WORLDS

An unofficial tribute to the sci-fi/horror classic Alien that I created as part of the Technicolor VFX Design/Motion Graphics Team. For this project, I thought it would be a fun challenge to create a faux promotional motion design piece highlighting the terraforming efforts of the infamous Weyland-Yutani Corporation using the company's slogan "Building Better Worlds."

In addition to the visual aesthetic of Ridley Scott and James Cameron's respective films (no offense to David Fincher or Jean-Pierre Jeunet by any means), I was inspired by Stanley Kubrick's own sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. The original project didn't incorporate any audio, but I was listening to "The Blue Danube" as I was making it (like a lot...) and it felt wrong not to add it in after the fact. For a final touch, I thought it'd be cool to end with the distinctive sounds of the Nostromo's retrofuturistic computers.

Made with lots of love... but also with Maya, V-Ray, Houdini, After Effects (with plenty of plugins to spare), Illustrator, JSplacement, and Premiere Pro
